Essen, January 2016. With more than 1,250 exhibitors from more than 30 nations the 28th Techno-Classica Essen 2016 reinforces its significance as number 1 of the international classic fairs - in double sense: The in 1989 for the first time organised today "world fair for vintage cars, classic- & prestige-automobiles, motor sport, motorcycles, spare parts, restoration and world club meeting" is not only the pioneer of the scene and the longest-standing international classic fair. Also in 2016 it sets standards again, which serve other events as model as always.
The mostly lavish orchestrated presentations of more than 25 German and international car manufacturers make the Techno-Classica Essen also in April this year to the greatest historical exhibition of the car industry worldwide. So, among others, exhibitors from North- and South-America and even China present their range.
But the attractiveness of the Techno-Classica is not only rooted in quantity and quality: With a spectacular special exhibition it presents automobile historical gems for the extremely connoisseurs of the classic experts every year. In the centre, in hall 6, the organizer, S.I.H.A., presents 2016 a fascinating special exhibition with rare and spectacular historical racing-cars, which have one common feature: They started all in 1955 at the legendary Mille Miglia, the probably toughest road race after World-War Two.
Following the perception that extraordinary events need no round anniversary to be appreciated attractive, exciting and entertaining, S.I.H.A. probably shows eight of the most fantastic and most spectacular competition vehicles, which were at the start on 1st May 1955 in Brescia for the at this time third race of the sports car world championship. In the focus of the Mille Miglia presentation is a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. It is a car of that type with which Juan Manuel Fangio - without co-driver - gained a sensational second place in 1955 after 1,597 racing kilometres. The car with the number 658 from the Mercedes-Benz museum decorates the S.I.H.A. stand together with other bolides, as probably a Ferrari 750 Monza, which gained the 6th place, a Porsche 550 Spyder, as it gained the 8th place or a Maserati A6 GCS, which crossed the finishing-line in Brescia on 2nd May 1955 as fourth. At the five-day fair it is presented everything, really everything around collector's cars - so there meet also a lot of VIP's from movies and TV, racing driver stars from the history and present and the most important deciders from the classic scene as well.
